40 North Tap + Grille Announces New Chef Jordan Narber
Executive Chef Jordan Narber brings his Midwest roots and big-city experience to the new upscale American restaurant in Grand Island’s Railside
Grand Island, Neb. – (May 17, 2019) – 40 North Tap + Grille is pleased to announce the hiring of Chef Jordan Narber as Executive Chef. Narber will be responsible for creating and overseeing the menus, staff and general operations of 40 North Tap + Grille.
“Jordan has the experience and culinary knowledge along with new ideas and enthusiasm,” restaurant owner Jay Vavricek said. “I know people are going to love him and it’s exciting to welcome him to lead our team at 40 North Tap & Grille.”
Narber is bringing is Midwest roots combined with a big-city culinary experience to the table while developing the dinner and lunch menus.
“We’ll be bringing in a lot of fresh products. We’re going to be doing signature steaks and dry-aged beef and pork,” Narber said. “We’re wanting to source products ranging from tomatoes to beef from local Nebraska farmers. The benefit of going this route is giving back to the community and having that Nebraska pride. And, locally sourced food brings a higher quality product to the table.”
Narber has always had a passion for food. His first job was working as a grocery bagger at a local grocery store in Fort Dodge, Iowa when he was just 14 years old. As a kid, he had always wanted to be a chef but started his career out on a different path.
“I went to business school, which gave me a great foundation, but I was ready for a change. My family encouraged me to do something I was passionate about and they told me to find a culinary school which is what brought me to Minnesota,” Narber said.
Prior to joining 40 North Tap + Grille, Narber most recently acted as Sous Chef at Vivo Kitchen in Apple Valley, Minn.; which is an all scratch, high volume kitchen that sources local and sustainable products. He also has experience working at Buca di Beppo, the country’s number one restaurant for takeout, and has his Associates Degree of Culinary Arts from Le Cordon Bleu.
Narber stated his favorite thing about working in a high-end restaurant is having people come back for more and having a great experience.
“The hospitality industry is demanding,” Vavricek said. “Jordan grew up in a small town so he knows what it takes to successfully serve customers and meet their expectations.”
